Kirtan originated thousands of years ago in India. The sounds of kirtan were created by ancient rishis (poet-sages) from the seed mantras of the Vedas, and designed to resonate with your chakras to help move the energy up the spine. The rishis set phrases such as Om Namah Shivaya to simple melodies and sang them. While powerful, kirtan is also effortless—and fun.
Shubalananda Saraswati (Larry Kopp) has been leading kirtan for the past 25 years. He has studied with Satya Sai Baba, Karuna Mayi, Shree Maa, Mata Amritananda Mayi, Baba Harihar Ramji and Shiva Rudra Bala Yogi.
Shubal’s experience and excellent storytelling ability make for an evening of great kirtan with inspiring stories, lots of laughs, tears, and bliss. Shubal’s kirtan must be experienced.
