Classes at Newington Yoga Center
Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga is a system of yoga introduced to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs.
Our classes are a moving meditation of breath-connected postures. The postures flow together like beads on a string, or a “mala”.
This strong athletic practice results in improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Ashtanga Mixed classes include a blend of primary and second series.

EmbodyCore®
Discover your optimal alignment as you establish strength in your abdominal and low back area. Strengthen your center by maintaining the support and integrity of the spine. Learn to keep your spine healthy and support your abdominal organs by accessing the deep abdominal muscles. This will help all the systems in the body function at a higher level.
Yoga and Ayurveda
Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences--they enhance each other. Practicing the two together provides a complete basis for optimal health.
This class provides a strong foundation of the principles of both, using asana pranayama and meditation to create balance in each session and each individual constitution.
Yoga for Back Care
Learn to move from the center of the body. Expand and condense from the center out, and back in. Increase spine strength and bring good health to the abdominal organs, by keeping your center strong and supple.
Yoga Nidra
Lie down, put an eye pillow on, and take a journey of guided conscious rest. Learn to develop the feeling of deep relaxation in the body. Explore a deeper level of consciousness, connect with your body's primal wisdom, relax. Join us for a restorative yoga practice, breathwork and a long, guided savasana, which is the essence of Yoga Nidra.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga relieves the effects of chronic stress and promotes well-being and balance in the body-mind. Restorative poses are for those times when you feel weak, fatigued, or stressed from your daily activities.
The body is completely supported by props (blankets, blocks, straps), in a peaceful environment, allowing for total relaxation. Feel refreshed and renewed after practicing restorative yoga!
